Hints & tips
Here are some questions that you've asked England fast bowler Katherine Brunt. Next month we’ll ask Luke Wright, so if there’s something you want to know, send us your question and we’ll pick the best ones to ask our cricketers
"What got you started playing cricket?"
Lottie, 11, Reading
My older brother and my dad played for the local cricket club. They invited me to their weekly training session after seeing how good I was in the back garden and at the age of 9 I joined the boys U11's team!
"How do I hit a six?"
Jasmine, 10, Birmingham
It depends on what ball is bowled at you. If it is there for hitting for six then I suggest you watch the ball, keep in a strong, solid position, hit 100% and not half heartedly as you want it to reach the boundary!
"Where in the world is your favourite ground?"
Naeman, 12, Aldershot
Lord’s! I seem to play my best cricket when I’m there. The food is amazing and the feeling you get when walking out from the famous pavilion onto the perfectly prepared pitch is one you will never forget.
"What is your favourite shot?"
Xyla, 13, South Shields
The sweep slog for six! It’s a powerful shot that has to be timed and well selected. It can be a good shot to hit off spin bowling in particular, but it always feels better off fast bowling!
"Who is the scariest bowler you've faced?"
Simon, 9, Halifax
Kathryn Fitzpatrick from Australia, who's now retired but in her day bowled around 78mph and was the fastest female in world cricket!
"Who is the best batsman you've bowled at?"
Abdul, 11, London
"What do you eat for breakfast?"
Amber, 11, Stockport
Lots of things but I prefer either Weetabix and banana or a special sweet muesli. On a Saturday though, I love a bacon and egg sandwich for all my hard work I’ve done in the gym and on the pitch during the week!
"How do I bowl outswing?"
Charlie, 13, Haywards Heath
You can bowl an outswinger to a right-handed batsman by holding the seam slightly to the left towards the slips and placing the roughened side of the ball on the left with the shiny side to the right. To get consistent swing, you can also rotate the seam toward the slips while keeping your arm straight. To a right-handed batsman, this results in the ball moving away.
